This drug is mostly given to individuals suffering from hypertension and prostate enlargement. It is an alpha-1 antagonist and is marketed under the name Hytrin and Zayasel.

Dosage and administration
Usually, physicians advise patients to take the 1 mg tablet, once a day before going to bed if the patient is in the initial stage of hypertension or prostatic hyperplasia. This medication can be taken on an empty stomach or after a meal. The maintenance dose may be increased to 2 mg or 5 mg once a day, as prescribed by the physician. Swallow the tablet as a whole and do not chew or break it. Take this medication exactly as prescribed by the doctor. In case you miss a dose, do not take 2 doses at one time. Just skip the missed dose, take the next scheduled dose, and resume as usual. Your physician would advise you on the proper use of this medicine.
