How it Works

Nitroglycerin is known as a nitrate. Nitroglycerin works by relaxing and widening blood vessels. When the heart needs more oxygen than it can get, chest pains start occuring. Nitroglycerin works by relaxing blood vessels, which then allows blood to flow more easily. Nitroglycerin reduces the heart's workload and the amount of oxygen needed by the heart.
