Tiazac is a calcium channel blocker drug. The working mechanism of this medicine is for relaxation of blood vessel and heartís muscle. The generic name of this medicine is diltiazem hydrochloride. Tiazac is use primarily in treating hypertension and angina. This can also use in combination to other drug to meet a more synergistic effect.
Dosage and administration
For treatment of hypertension the first dose is 120 mg to 240 mg once a day. Using this drug therapy for 14 consecutive days would make sure great effect in lowering hypertension. For angina condition the suggested initial dosing is 120 mg up to 180 mg taken once a day. Adjustment of dosage to a higher level will depend on the patient's tolerance and response to drug treatment. Administration of drug is via oral route. It is important to take diltiazem with full stomach. Chewing or crushing of the tablet is not recommended. The proper way of taking the tablet is by means of swallowing it whole.
